Chris Bass

Residing in the area for over 35 years, and currently raising his family in the area where he grew up, Chris is fully immersed in and dedicated to the community that he serves. Having lived in the towns of Reston, Herndon, and Great Falls, and experience in community events throughout the Northern Virginia area from Ashburn to Alexandria, Chris has extensive knowledge and experience with Great Falls, VA real estate and the surrounding Northern Virginia real estate communities. An honest and trustworthy home-grown Realtor, Chris is committed to providing his clients with the utmost in customer care and service.

During his first four months as a licensed Realtor Chris closed over $4,100,000 in real estate transactions. From there he continued his success as the Top Producer at two different firms in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Today he serves as the driving force behind Langley Real Estate and their philanthropic efforts while continuing to lead the way in sales. Chris has a wide variety of experience in residential and commercial real estate including multi-million dollar deals in the Tysons Corner area, real estate investments earning upwards of a 15% CAP rate, land contracts, short sales, foreclosures, as well as rentals and property management. There is no deal too big or too small, Chris will always serve his client’s needs and work tirelessly towards their goals.

When not serving his clients and the community, Chris likes to spend time with his family and friends. Married to former Langley High School graduate and two-time All-American swimmer, Amy Batchelder of McLean, Virginia, they are currently raising their two children, Billy and Taylor in the same community in which they grew up. He has also been a member of McLean Baptist Church since 1988 where he has traveled to Mississippi to help rebuild homes after Hurricane Katrina and assisted in “Feeding 1,000” initiated by a Langley High School graduate to hand deliver meals to D.C.’s homeless.

Prior to starting his family Chris enjoyed extensive international travel exploring over 35 different countries on six different continents in addition to many trips to some of best National Parks and cities visiting all 50 states in the process. He was also an avid motorcycle rider and enjoys everything from lacrosse to antiques, hiking to NASCAR. Chris participates in local hockey leagues as a coach and player and for years the Old Brogue in Great Falls was the official sponsor of the hockey team of which he was captain and won many championships. With a strong Scottish heritage Chris has participated in many local festivals and enjoys the annual events held in Old Town Alexandria.

A graduate of Great Falls Elementary, James Fenimore Cooper Intermediate, and Langley High School, with undergraduate and graduate degrees from Vanderbilt University and the University of Virginia, education has been a focus in Chris’ life. His vision of a client-centered real estate firm with a social conscience, restricting representation to areas in which he has distinct knowledge, makes him one of the most trusted Realtors in the area. With his familiarity of Northern Virginia and recognition as a trusted member of the community, Chris can reliably help you navigate the subtleties of each distinct suburb, subdivision and neighborhood to help you make the best choice in real estate.

One of Northern Virginia’s first real estate Brokers to earn the National Association of Realtors GREEN designation for promotion of energy efficiency and conservation techniques, Chris has made a commitment to environmental awareness and the greater community. With professional knowledge of sustainable materials, efficient design, and the benefits of home energy audits, Chris can help you save money on your energy bills while helping to protect and improve our environment.

Chris has made a life-long commitment to the continued growth and development of the community in which he was raised and continues to serve. In addition to being a successful real estate Broker in Great Falls, VA and the surrounding Northern Virginia area, Chris has also been a teacher at Langley High School since 1999. His clients benefit from his expertise and knowledge of the local school systems and connections within the community providing the most trusted and comprehensive analysis of the local real estate market. His vast knowledge of Langley High School homes for sale and the local neighborhoods and school districts are second to none.

Early in his real estate career, Chris recognized the importance of the local school system and its impact on residential property values and made a commitment to support local schools by donating a large portion of each real estate sale to the school or non-profit of his client’s choosing. You can feel good knowing that when you purchase Great Falls, VA real estate or any home in the Northern Virginia area you are giving back to the local community.

Chris has also taken on a leadership role encouraging local youth to become active members of their community by sponsoring the Langley High School Community Service Club. Through their coordinated efforts, the organization has been able to provide much needed volunteers for local community projects and charitable endeavors while fostering positive character traits of respect, integrity and social responsibility in our youth.

Aside from role as a real estate broker, teacher and community leader Chris is a supporter of many other charities including Partners for Surgery. While on Spring Break in 1999 Chris decided to visit a good friend who was then a member of the Peace Corps serving in Guatemala. While on “vacation” Chris had the opportunity to visit some of the local churches and hospitals and witness firsthand the needs of the local children and the dramatic impact that the Peace Corps and his friend had on the people of Guatemala. In 2001 Partner for Surgery was developed with a two-fold mission:

  • To serve as a bridge between patients in need of surgical care in remote communities and the international volunteer triage and surgical teams that come to Guatemala to help the impoverished
  • To educate and empower rural Guatemalans to initiate and advocate for vital health care services on their own behalf.
